Sea Cadet Scuttlebutt by Bill Altken-Sea Cadet Chairperson On May 14, 2006 the Central Jersey Council officially adopted the Battleship New Jersey BB62 Division. During the ceremony Council members Bill Aitken, Dan Dermer, Dick Ehlert, Frank Greco, Steve Hutton, Andy Madajewski, Greg Varga and LCDR Ed Troche were able to witness the Division's Change of Command. All took pride in seeing LTJG John Jamison, NSCC take the helm of the unit The Council was able to sponsor the day's events and pledged continued support as they welcomed the Division into the Central Jersey Council family. After the official ceremony some of the Council Members were able to have special guided tours of the most decorated Battleship in U.S. history. The formal adoption of the unit is a great capstone on the tradition of the Council's support for this unit and the Battleship New Jersey. Whether it was thru the efforts of Stu Chalkley, Walt Olkowski of the NJ Battleship Historical Museum Society or LCDR Ed Troche as the first and former CO of the Division. The BB62 Division of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps finally has a home!
